Opened in 1910, the Standard Chartered Bank was the first foreign bank to operate in Thailand. The bank’s former building is a magnificent example of Phuket’s historic Sino-Portuguese architecture. This iconic building is often featured on post cards and promotional materials for Phuket but has fallen into disrepair over the years. Happily there is a restoration project underway to restore it to its former glory.
