Rocky Kalim Beach is located at the far north end of Patong Beach. It is not as busy as Patong, which can be reached by a 20 –30 minute walk or a short drive. This peaceful and laid back area has many reasonably priced and hotels and guesthouses. On the hilside above Kalim are some luxury villas boast fabulous sea views over Patong Bay. These are a mix of private residences and holiday rental properties. Along the beach are some well-known high end restaurants such as the While Box, Acqua and the well known award winning Baan Rim Pa, Da Maurizo and the more casual Joe’s Downstairs.
Popular activities at Kalim include surfing during the rainy season, where some of the best breaks on the island can be found here. During the dry season, when the sea is calm, you can snorkel out to the reefs. Swimming is not recommended here due to the rocky sea bed.
