Rawai is a shallow, slightly rocky beach in the south of Phuket Island. It is situated between Chalng Bay and the Phromthep Cape View Point, around 20 minutes drive from Phuket Town. Rawai Beach is know for it’s delicious local seafood, Thai and Western restaurants including set in the shade of the tall casuarina trees. Many small boats moor just off the beach, as the bay provides shelter and more calm waters. Visitors can rent these boats to go on trips to nearby islands such as Coral Island and Racha Yai. At the eastern point of the beach is a small fishing village where a daily fresh fish market is held and a few stalls are laid out with shells and tourist souvenirs.
