Phra Nang Sang Temple
Ref No. 232 | Updated: December 26, 2012
Wat Phra Nang Sang is situated at the main Thalang Town intersection, 20 km north of Phuket Town on the main highway that leads to Phuket International Airport. This temple was built on the site of an old 1785 military camp during a conflict with the Burmese. Phra Nang Sang Temple was believed to be built by a queen of Lang Ka Wi Kingdom, which is known as Phra Nang Leud Khaow or the White Blood Queen, during her trip back from Sri Lanka while they stopped at Thalang. Here there are 3 old tin Buddha images called The Three Kings Buddha that were found inside a stomach of a larger Buddha statue as well as other interesting religious artifacts including a mummified monk and a statue of Thao Thep Kassatri and Thao Sri Sunthon, the celebrated Heroines of Phuket.
