Phra Thong Temple

Wat Phra Thong is situated in the district of Thalang on Thepkasatri Road, about 10 minutes drive south of the airport. This is a very old Buddist Temple with a old legend about a partly buried gold Buddha. The temple is a place for enshrining Phra Phud or the Golden Buddha Statue which is where the Buddha was found partly buried underground. Phra Thong Temple has a museum that exhibits historic evaluated objects of the by gone tin mining days of Phuket. You can get there by traveling along Thepkasatri Road until reach you reach the Thalang District Office, and then turn right; the road leads directly to the temple.
