Wat Chalong or Chalong Temple is the biggest and most visited temple on Phuket Island. It consists of a number of buildings, the Central Temple houses 3 revered statues of past abbots and monks of the temple, Luang Pro Chaem, Luang Por Gluam and Luang Por Chuang.

The Phra Mahathat Chedi, which is 3 floors high, is decorated with paintings, images and statues. On the top floor there is a glass display case that houses a small, fragment of bone of the Buddha. There is also an air conditioned Exhibition Hall that contains life size waxwork images of previous abbots and also displays interesting antique pieces of furniture. Entrance is free, but most people make a donation, as donations go towards the upkeep and charitable activities of the temple. Dress modestly and take off your shoes before entering buildings such as the Central Temple and Phra Mahathat Chedi.

Wat Chalong is located just off Chao Fah Nok Rd (Chao Fa West Rd) between the Central Festival Shopping Mall and Chalong Circle. If driving from Central Festival towards Chalong Circle, Wat Chalong is about 9 km drive and is on the left hand side. Watch out for the sign posts.
