Sunsail Sailing School
For a taste of the Far East, join our sailing school in Thailand. With dramatic scenery and some of the friendliest people in the world, it offers something not to be missed. The best conditions are over the summer months with steady winds and a tidal range of 2 – 3 metres meaning that you will get tidal endorsements on any Competent Crew or Day Skipper qualification taken. Combining a schools course here with a yacht charter or holiday ashore, really will give you a sailing school experience to remember. Our Phuket Sailing School is open May-October. Skippered Yacht Charter
If you can't sail or are a little rusty then no problems, we can provide a Skipper for the duration of your charter. The skipper’s time is booked from 12:00pm to 12:00pm in 24-hour periods. If you have reserved him for the first day of your charter and have a 6:00pm start, he will use this time to ensure he is happy with all aspects of the yacht and will be at the base to meet you upon your arrival. If you have reserved him for a later date on your charter he will start at 12:00pm on that day. The skipper is responsible for the safety of the yacht at all times. The skipper fee does not include food or beverages for the skipper and are the responsibility of the client. It is suggested that you discuss this on the first day with the skipper and establish whether you will give the skipper cash for meals, whether you have included him in your provisioning or whether you will accommodate him as part of the group for meals ashore.
Koh Samui Yacht Charter
A Koh Samui sailing holiday kicks off from Sunsail’s base at Bo Phut, 15 minutes from Koh Samui Airport and situated close to one of Koh Samui’s best and most popular beaches. Bo Phut has handled its evolution from quiet fishing village to a classy beachfront resort well, and it is great place from which to begin a yacht charter. Sailing in Koh Samui The eighty tropical islands of the sailing area give those on a Koh Samui sailing holiday an opportunity to explore some of the region’s quieter spots. Picture-perfect anchorages located off tropical beaches, great selections of excellent restaurants offering exquisite cuisine and numerous world class dive sites are just some of the delights to be experienced and explored on a Koh Samui yacht charter. During the May to October season, winds range from 5-20 knots and temperatures from 26-38 C. What's included ? Cruising Area Limits The cruising area in the Gulf of Thailand encompasses Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao and the Ang Thon Archipelago. The islands lie in a shallow part of the gulf 15 miles off the eastern coast of the southern peninsular. Well known for its soft white sand beaches, sparkling coral reefs and coconut trees, you’ll find no shortage of things to do on this island. Koh Chang Yacht Charter
The province of Trat in the Koh Chang archipelago is the location of Sunsail’s base in the eastern Gulf of Thailand, best suited to sailing from November to April. Koh Chang is Thailand at its most chilled and perfect for a relaxed sailing holiday. The region is only slowly developing as a tourist destination and, while there are plenty of lively spots (be sure to check out sundown at White Sand beach), there are also numerous quaint fishing villages built on stilts, where life has not changed much in hundreds of years and sailors are guaranteed to find a warm welcome. Sailing in Koh Chang This amazing sailing ground incorporates the spectacular Koh Chang National Park – clear waters surrounding a spectacular island terrain of mountainous peaks and high cliffs, with lush green tropical vegetation and incredible waterfalls. On a Thai sailing holiday in Koh Chang you can admire the stunning coastline from the deck of your yacht when the weather is sunny and dry, temperatures from November to April range from 21-24 C and the north-easterly winds light to moderate 5-20 knots. Cruising Area Limits Between November & April, when the prevailing wind blows from the Northeast, the cruising area covers all of the island from the northern tip of Koh Chang to the southern tip of Koh Kut. Langkawi Yacht Charter
The Sunsail base at the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club is very close to the main town of Langkawi, Kuah. It is accessible at all states of the tide and has a lot of restaurants and bars. Malaysia combines a diversity of cultures and cuisine, which has created a relaxed, but vibrant way of life. Sailing holidays will give you the chance to experience a true taste of this paradise as you explore of the usual tourist route and effortlessly sail between modern marinas and traditional fishing villages. If you can tear yourself away from the table for long enough to do some sailing, a sailing holiday in Langkawi offers safe and scenic cruising in blissfully warm waters, with beautiful beaches just crying out to be flopped upon and for the more adventurous, there is some excellent scuba diving to be had. Sailing in Malaysia A Malaysia yacht charter from Sunsail’s base on Langkawi, opens up an archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea, which also affords the opportunity to visit the southern Thai islands of the Butang group and Turatao. Sheltered by the backbone of Malaysia’s peninsular, Langkawi escapes the north-eastern winter monsoon completely and enjoys winter sun when the east of the country is flooded. Annual temperatures range from 22-28 C and winds from 5-20 knots. Cruising Area Limits The cruising area boundaries are as follows: To the North - Latitude 006deg 52min N To the West - Longitude 099deg E To the South - Latitude 006deg N To the East - Mainland Malaysia It is possible to sail Langkawi-Phuket and a one-way supplement is payable in advance on all one-way charters. These are one-time payments and covers all immigration, customs and harbour formalities.
