Rajabhat Institute Phuket

The university was first established under the name Phuket Teacher’s College, as part of the Ministry of Education’s plan to organize Phuket Teacher’s College in 3 more provinces, with the main function being to produce teachers and other education personel in keeping with the Third Thai Economic and Social Development Plan (1972 – 1976) objectives for Education Development.

- 19 th June 1971: Phuket Teacher’s College was established. The date of establishment corresponded to the anniversary of 25 th year of the reign of King Bhumipol.

- 14 th June 1971: The Ministry of Education announced the first director of Phuket Teacher’s College would be Mr. Chalong Phiromrat.

- 14 th February 1992: King Bhumipol granted the college the name “Rajabhat Institute Phuket.”

- 14 th June 2004: The Royal Gazette announced the act which resulted in all Rajabhat Institutes becoming universities on 15 th June 2004.
