A good working air-conditioner is most needed in the tropics and in Phuket there are plenty of places to buy or have one serviced.
Pricing on air-conditioners will depend on the size and BTUs (British Thermal Units) it puts out. Calculating the size of the room that needs to be cool is key to energy consumption. If the unit is too small the air-conditioner will operate continually and the electrical bill will be a shocker.
For example, a room that is 125 square feet in size will need an air-conditioning unit that produces at least 7,000 BTUs to keep run efficiently.
When purchasing a new unit always inquire about warranties and service agreements.
