Renting a car can be a liberating and independent way of travelling around the island. It also can be a harrowing experience as Phuket drivers do not always adhere to the rules of the roads.
Most international car rental agencies are represented in Phuket and have counters at the airport. It is recommended to purchase all optional insurance available and check the dents and scratches carefully before driving off.
Rates vary depending on the size and make of vehicle. Remember Thais drive on the left side of the road.
