Foreigners may buy new and used cars in Phuket as long as they meet certain immigration requirements.
To initiate the process it is best to visit one of the many car dealerships who can guide through the maze of paperwork and signatures and official copies that will be needed. Patience is needed but it can be done.
If buying a used car from another person it is highly recommended the purchaser make sure all taxes for the past 5 years on the car have been paid for.
