Karon, West Phuket

The Angus O’Tool’s Irish Pub & Restaurant is a family friendly place, where traditional Irish beers and foods are served. This place is easy to find as is on a corner, facing the entrance of the Centara Karon Resort, in Soi Islandia, in the centre of Karon’s shopping and restaurant area. They serve all day Big Breakfasts, Homemade Pies, Sunday Roasts, Irish Stews and imported Aussie Chargrilled Steaks. The inside section has a slight, Irish decor look and feel and has 2 big screens and 5 smaller screens that show all major sporting events. The outside terrace is simply fitted out with plastic tables and chairs, and is a nice spot to sit and people watch, while having a beer or two of Green King IPA, Magners, Guinness or Fosters. They also sell spirts, cocktails and soft drinks. On Friday’s they normally have live band entertainment.

  1. Recommend the fish and chips and the bottled Magners. More of a sports bar than an Irish bar. Easy to watch to the football with all the screens about the place and free wifi was a plus. Staff were smiley, but not very proactive in clearing away plates. Had a good feel and I was happy here alone for a few hours while the wife went shopping. Not flash or fancy, but good value with a welcoming atmosphere

  2. A good place to go for a sports fan like me. They show a wide range of sports here on big screens. My wife was less impressed, as the decor is looking tired and the plastic chairs outside are now grey instead of white! However the place cannot be faulted for its good selection of lagers, bitters and ciders. I was well happy as they had many in draught, which I like. not just bottled beers. Food was as expected pub style and it made a nice change from Thai curry and rice. We can recommend the cottage pie and the lamb shank.

  3. I regularly stay in Karon and have always enjoyed the excellent and hearty all-day breakfasts at O’tools. The staff are normally very friendly and attentive. Good place to watch international sports on the big screen and there is usually a good crowd. I’ve never stayed here but heard the rooms are good value.

  4. Sunday’s roast was really good. Friendly staff, drinks priced reasonably. Good place.

  5. A pint of Guinness for 230 baht is a great deal. Welcoming pub and free wifi.

  6. The Sunday Roast is a bargain. I had beef with crispy roast spuds, yorkshire pud and a selection of veggies. Maurice was chatty and friendly. Had a nice atmosphere, a really good way to spend a Sunday afternoon, plus they have free WiFi.

  7. On a corner facing the Central Karon Resort, had a good time watching the premier league footie. Had a few glasses of Irish Kilkenny ales that went down a treat, can’t remember the exact price but not expensive I think just over 200 baht. Also had the full breakfast that was huge and was less than 300 baht. It also came with coffee and juice but I did not have it as I was happy just drinking beer.

  8. Was pretty buzzy the night I went there with the missus…… atmosphere was great and friendly staff n customers.

Food was pretty good, usual menu stuff, but well presented.

  9. We were staying nearby and used this place as the kids liked it which means we enjoyed it more, without the winge factor.

Not the most exciting place but they had Good British (or Irish?) grub at reasonable prices.

    Definitely worth a visit.
