Chalong : Airport
Phuket International Airport (HKT) is located 32 kilometers north of Phuket City and is the second busiest airport in Thailand after Bangkok and in 2012 welcomed over 4 million passengers.
It is served by 55 national and international airlines, many of them seasonal including charter flights during the months of November through February.
Currently Terminal 1 is used for international flights and Terminal 2 for domestic flights.
In July 2012 the airport broke ground on construction and expansion of a new international terminal, improvements for the existing terminals, and a new parking lot. The work is expected to be completed by 2015.
