Phuket Town, Phuket Town & Central

The Blue Elephant, Phuket, is housed in an impressive 100-year-old Sino-Portuguese mansion that has been lovingly restored to its former glory. The building is set in large grounds on the corner of Krabi and Satun Road in the Old Phuket Town area.

Every dish is prepared by their renowned chef who uses only the freshest and finest ingredients according to Royal Thai culinary tradition. The menu is inventive and surprising while service is provided by courteous and attentive staff.

For pre or after dinner drinks there is a trendy, modern bar that offers a contrast to the classic colonial style of the indoor and outdoor dining areas.

The restaurant is an excellent venue for events with dedicated function rooms on the upper floor and a vast lawn for large outdoor events and parties.

For those that want to learn about and try their hand at Thai cooking, the onsite Blue Elephant Cooking School provides a wide range of courses with first class facilities and training for all skill sets.

  1. Housed in an exquisite Sino-Portuguese mansion in the heart of Phuket Town, the Blue Elephant has without doubt the grandest setting of any restaurant in Phuket. The interior has been lovingly restored to retain the building’s old-world charm, making it the perfect place for a special intimate meal or entertaining friends. The Blue Elephant restaurant is located on the corner of Krabi and Satun roads, just past the Phuket Thai Hua Musuem. Look out for the narrow road entrance as its quite easy to miss and there isn’t a large sign.

  2. I recently enjoyed a fabulous lunch at the Blue Elephant Phuket. First the setting and atmosphere is just so special, there is nothing else like it on the island. Our waiter was lovely and spoke excellent English. We ordered quite a mix but my favorites were the duck curry and egg plant salad. Wow, just thinking about those are making me hungry again. I bought some of their ready made curry powders to take home so will be trying those out soon. It really is an experience not to be missed if you are a big fan of Thai food.

  3. We went this restaurant last week we know this place because of the reception from our hotel she recommended so we love the building and decor, Also we really love Thai food here was fantastic and very nice presented, Service, food and atmosphere were exceptional.

  4. The building and decor should be less important than the food at a restaurant but the Blue Elephant Restaurant in Phuket Town is located in a stunning well restored, lovely lit at night old colonial mansion. We just had to go and eat there, we were not disappointed. The inside of the mansion is just as impressive as the outside and we loved the Thai food that was served on old world look chinaware. We were not sure what to order so we went for the set menu, the fish cooked in a bamboo casing was wonderful.

  5. It is a really beautiful place! I love the building style. I been here with my boss and her farang friend. Foods are very nice presented but I think taste is so so for Thai people like me. However, it is worth experience as I think I will not have many chance to come here. I know that it is expensive but I must say that it is very special place. You must try 😉

  6. I have found this place during our previous holidays in Phuket. The place looked very stunning with a beautiful classic sino portuguese building in downtown Phuket. What a great place! The food, service and atmosphere were very nice. Most importantly, the food is delicious and very well presented, I love to recommend Duck Dish which is my favourite :)

  7. I had a great visit with my teammate a couple months ago. I had a Thai set start with soup in a short glass. I was impress. The set menu is too much we very full but their taste are all great as well. Everyone thought that we could not finish the sweet, but we all can finish them all. The decoration is fantastic and outstanding by using the original house as a restaurant, still the glass door seem to be a bit dangerous for children.

  8. Our bill here came to about 1600 baht per person so be advised this is not street food Thai food. Very upscale and very good. The lamb curry was exquisite.

    • Last night we had fantastic dinner with family. It was very good and the chef know what he do also know how to arrange on the plate as the first impression is the most important. See you soon again p’Sumbat.

  9. What a special treat it was to dine here the other evening. The service was excellent, the home is beautifully decorated and the Thai food was exquisite.

  10. The real wow factor here starting with the beautiful building. I am not an expert on Thai food but everything we tasted was superb. The service was exceptional.

  11. Get there early to have a drink in the trendy bar before dining in a fine classic room, they also have a terrace area. Not that easy to find, but our tuk tuk driver knew where it was.

  12. A great experience and ambience. Very colonial style, beautiful building.

Food was amazing and presentation first class.

Expensive and difficult to find (taxi driver tried to take us somewhere else).

Would I go again? Yes, for special occasion but its not a cheap night out!

  13. Very upscale but not snobbish or expensive. This place is beautiful with food to match. Probably the best Thai food on the island.

  14. For anything and everything Thai on a grand scale. The prettiest setting where it obvious the owner spent plenty of time and money to recreate a royal experience in the town of Phuket.
We had visited the London site but this is the real deal. We plan to be back. Thank you for a memorable dining experience!
