Chewy’s Steak House

This is a neat little restaurant off the beaten track in Phuket. I was based in Phuket for five weeks and this restaurant is not far from where I stayed. The best thing about it was the free pool – my typical routine was to wander over late in the afternoon, have a drink or two, play some pool and stay for dinner. They have outdoor dining and you can also eat inside, which is basically a few couches and a couple of seats around the pool table. You can even have a snooze there after lunch, they don’t mind.

This place is open from 10am until 1am, though I found they closed an hour early if nobody was there. You don’t have to go there to eat and can just go there for the bar and pool if you want.

The only criticism I have is the hassle with change. They never had any and it got to the point where they would start me on a tab to avoid changing a 1000 baht note. Only minor though.

Favorite Dish: Despite the name, I never had a steak as I was on a “Thai food only” kick. I did relent one day and have a cheeseburger though, and it was good. I recommend “Mama Soup” if you’re feeling worse for wear.
