Steak Samkong

For teachers and travelers, Steak Samkong seems to be a popular restaurant in Phuket Town. It’s definitely not worth making the effort to travel to Steak Samong for the sole purpose of eating there, but if you’re in the area on Yaowarat Road, they do a good wiener snitzel, although, ironically, the steaks are below par.

For cheap and cheerful food, you could do much better, but there are worse restaurants in Phuket Town. The pasta dishes aren’t great, but the salads are all right.

Steak Samkong does cheap fish and chips if you’re in the mood for some Western junk food. The fried chicken is worth avoiding, though. The pizzas could be a heck of a lot better, but there are a few special dishes on the menu that are palatable.
