Review of Veranda Restaurant
The temperature inside the restaurant was a little too warm for our comfort. Our Thai curries were aimed for the taste of tourists, mot too spicy, don’t expect authentic Thai food. mainly Russian customers. Service was acceptable, had to chase our waiter for the bill twice and dishes arrived ad hoc, not all at once, and some of our starters came after main dishes. On the plus side, cheap and large portions.
Review of Rosco’s Bar & Restaurant
Had a good time watching the football. the have 3 or 4 big screens. beers around 100 baht, more or less depending on the brand. More of a sports bar than a restaurant, although we wee full and happy after our club sandwich which came with a large portion of fries. Not a girly bar, and staff were pleasant and not pushy. Seems popular with expats, staff were chatting to a lot of the customers.
Review of Karon Cafe Steakhouse & Thai Cuisine
Certainly was not hungry after the steak and bbq rib combo, that I had with fries and a serve yourself salad, which had a reasonable selection of items to choose from. A small carafe of house wine was surprisingly cheap… well for Phuket around 200 baht if i remember correctly, and it was acceptable to drink. Overall, good value considering it was Australian meat and the staff really put themselves out to ensure we had a good time nad had everything we needed.
Review of Le Cafe Restaurant
Interesting antique style, black and white tiles, wooden panels, mirrors, black and white pictures dotted around. Very good Thai food, especially the tom yum seafood soup. They have a small gift shop upstairs. Food was a bit slow coming being served, but ok for us we were happy looking around and drinking a few beers.
When searching for the best Thai food on the island the best source will be a Thai national. Thais are very particular and demanding when it comes to good tasting food and the established restaurants on the island have survived because they serve up quality Thai food.
Thai dishes are mostly served family style and all is shared by those at the table.
