Rawai Muay ThaiRawai, South Phuket
Rawai Muay Thai Camp is the original Thai Boxing Gym located on the tropical island of Phuket. At Rawai Muay Thai we offer fight training, fitness training, Yoga, personal training, detox programs and diet and nutrition information to help you lose weight. We train all levels, from complete beginners to professional athletes.
We also have resident Thai fighters living and training at the gym. A percentage of your gym fees goes to cover the expenses of the Thai fighters, including training, room and food, schooling and clothes. Most Thai boxers are poor and train and fight in order to generate income for their families. At Rawai camp we help local kids to learn the discipline of Muay Thai, helping them stay out of trouble and become better athletes. These young Thai fighters train 6 hours a day, 6 days a week. By the time they’re 18 most of them have over 100 fights experience.
Training 6 hours a day is not as hard as it sounds. You start your day at 7:30 am with a morning run (30 – 60 minutes). You then participate in the morning training session which can include sparring, teachnique, boxing, kicking pads and so on. You can then finish your morning training session with 30 – 40 minutes of weight training, yoga, and stretching. At 3 pm you are back in the gym for another 2 – 3 hours of Muay Thai and fitness training in the high humidity of the tropics.
In most countries people exercise on average 1.5 hours a day, 3 times a week. This is equal to 4.5 hours a week, 18 hours a month, 216 hours a year.
At Rawai Muay Thai Camp our fighters exercise 6 hours a day, 6 days a week. This is equal to 36 hours of exercise a week, 168 hours a month, 2,016 hours a year. At Rawai Muay Thai Camp you do a year’s training in a month!
On November 2003 Rawai Muay Thai Camp opened it doors to foreigners and non-fighters that want to experience fitness training in a highly motivated environment of a professional Thai Boxing Camp.
Rawai Muay Thai Camp has quickly become one of the most popular training gyms in Southern Thailand for foreign Muay Thai students and by far the most popular gym in all of Thailand for training female Muay Thai boxers.
You don’t have to be a Muay Thai / Martial arts specialist or a fighting junkie to be training at Rawai Muay Thai Camp. Many people come here for a variety of other reasons such as weight loss and fitness training rather than just to learn to fight Muay Thai Boxing. Some of the more common reasons for people to come to Rawai Muay Thai Camp are:

In the first week at Rawai most new students usually can only do 2 – 3 hours of training a day. By the second week their fitness level & stamina have improved and 4 hours of training a day becomes easier to achieve. By the 3rd week most people can do 5 or more hours a day of training. The ideal length of stay to be training in Thailand is between 1- 3 months. The first 3 weeks you are building on your fitness, stamina and Muay Thai technique. In the second month of training your fitness is up to speed and looking like a professional fighter, your loss of body fat is noticeable and you are mentally on an extreme high. At the end of your 3rd month of training your fitness is peaking and you will be keen to go home to impress your friends and family with the new you (Muay Thai fighting fit).
When you return home to your usual training gym, you then realize how much you have improved in fitness and in your Muay Thai Boxing technique. Most students return to Rawai Muay Thai Camp for more Muay Thai & fitness training within a year of their first visit.
