Patong is without a doubt the centre of the island’s nightlife scene. This is where all the main action on the island takes place and is home to the world famous Bangla Road where thousands of people flock to every night during the high season. Bangla Road runs between the Beach Road and Rat-U-Thit Road, and turns in to a pedestrian-only zone early in the evening making it easy to walk around and bar hop. This area is ever-changing so do not be surprised if you find it has all changed since your last visit.
Beer Bars & Gogos
Bangla is where you will find bars of all kinds and nationalities offering all kinds of service. Most numerous of these are the beer bars with their scantily dressed girls enticing you to come in to their bar for a drink and to play games. Some of the bars also have poles on which the girls gyrate in provocative ways to get you to sit down and buy some drinks.
Bangla Road is also home to the GOGO scene. Most of these are found on Soi Sea Dragon, which is located about half way down Bangla. Most popular of these amongst visitors seems to be Suzy Wong’s located down at the far end.
Half way down is Soi Crocodile, or Soi Katoey as it is often called where you will find many of the island’ s ladyboys dancing and having their photo taken. There is a small ladyboy cabaret show at the end of the soi and you will often find them in their costumes posing for photos on Bangla Road in-between shows.
Clubs & Live Music
Bangla Road is also where all the live music and night clubs can be found, although it can often be hard to locate live music over the cacophony of sound that is Bangla. Best night clubs are Hollywood, located at the beach end of Bangla Road, Seduction Discotheque towards the top end of the road, and TaiPan, which is located opposite Bangla Road at the Rat-U-Thit Road end.
Soi Bangla at Night
There is more to Patong than just Bangla Road with a number of smaller bars and restaurants found on Soi Sansabai, Soi Nanai and Rat-U-Thit Road which also is home to Hard Rock Cafe. Other bar areas include: the Sukhumvit road complex, opposite the C&N hotel on Rat-U-Thit road, Sunset Plaza at the southern end of Patong beach opposite the Seapearl Hotel, Soi Dongtan on the beach road just north of Bangla, and Sawatdirak Road which is the next road north running parallel to Bangla.
Patong is also home to Phuket’s original and famous ladyboy cabaret – Simon Cabaret, as well as having a vibrant gay scene around Royal Paradise Hotel
