Phuket City Nightlife

The scene in the island’s provincial capital has a lot more local flavour than the nightlife by the beach. There isn’t the hectic pace of Patong and there isn’t really a nightlife centre as in other parts of Phuket but its worth the trip if you get bored of the tourist scene.

There are 2 distinct parts of Phuket Town when it comes to nightlife – the part that is frequented by expats and holiday makers and that which is nominally reserved for locals.

A wide selection of restaurants makes it a great place to go for a meal out and then on to one of the many bars or wine bars for entertainment. There are bars run by expats that cater for that market and normally show all the major sporting events along with small bars offering live music performances.

Be sure to check out Timber Hut which has been rocking the island with its music for over 15 years. Here you will find tourists, expats and locals all mixing together until 1pm after which some disappear off to the late night entertainment zone by the canals where you can find all night karaoke bars and beer bars.

Phuket Town is also home to 3 of the islands better entertainment locations – Aphrodite Cabaret, Simon Star Cabaret and Siam Niramit.

Karaoke & Hostess Bars

Although there are no beer bars or go-gos in Phuket Town, there is also a seedier side where escorts and special massages can be found at a price. A few bars such as Pink Lady and Fantasia offer hostess service but the prices for drinks in these establishments is considerably higher than elsewhere in town.
