As you would expect from an island, Phuket has an extraordinary supply of fresh sea food and shell fish that is unmatched in Thailand and the number of restaurants serving seafood reflects this.

Nearly all restaurants offer you the opportunity to choose your seafood from an ice counter or tanks with live fish proving the freshness of what they have on offer. You can choose a variety of cooking styles such as steamed, grilled or fried together with a variety of herbs or sauces such as ginger, lemongrass, coriander, chilli or garlic.

There is a great difference in price depending on where you are eating, so it is often worth looking around before making your choice. Alternatively ask your hotel to make a recommendation.

It is normally recommended to avoid eating seafood late at night or from a restaurant that has its wares right by the side of the road as you cannot be assured of the freshness.
