1. Registering


1.a) How do I register?

To be able to post ads in Phuket.Net Classifieds you must first register. During registration, you will be asked to create a username and password of your choice. Registration is free. You can register by clicking on "Login/Register" in the left-hand menu.

1.b) Why is registration information important?

It is very important that your provide accurate information when registering for your account. Thai law requires us to keep a record of all posters on our site. Your contact details will also be stored so that you don't need to enter it every time you place an ad. (However, you can amend your contact details when placing an ad).

1.c) What about privacy?

We value your privacy and will not display it anywhere on our site. Instead, we use a CGI contact form which allows you to recieve emails from interested parties while remaining anonymous.

However, we give you the option of including a telephone/mobile number to make it easier for people to contact you about your ad. You may feel that you are uncomfortable with displaying personal telephone numbers on a public website and should use this option at your discretion.

1.d) Does it cost anything to register?

No. The use of this service is completely free. We do not charge our users for posting ads, uploading images or including a URL in their ads.

2. Posting & Modifying Ads


2.a) How do I submit ads?

Once you have registered and logged in:

  1. Go to "Place an Ad" in the left-hand menu.
  2. Fill out the details form. Fields with a * are required.
  3. Click the "Submit Ad" button. If you receive an error message, you need to correct your ad or it will not post.
  4. You will then be asked to accept our Terms of Service. Please read through carefully and if you agree to the Terms, click "Accept".
  5. Lastly, you will be shown a preview of your ad. If you wish to go back and make any changes click on "Modify Ad". If you are satisfied with your ad click on "Done".
  6. Your ad has now been submitted for approval by Phuket.Net Classifieds admin. Please allow up to 48 hours for your ad to appear.

2.b) What languages can I post my ad in?

We regret that we are currently unable to support ads posted in Thai. However, we do plan on implementing this facility in future.

We will allow ads to contain other European languages as long as that language uses latin script. However, the title of the ad must be in English and the description must also contain English.

2.c) What are the editorial guidelines for posting ads?

  1. Do not use an exclamation point, colon or forward slash in your ad's title.
  2. Use only standard capitalization. This means only capitalize the first word of a sentence, the first letter of each word in your title, abbreviations, and proper names.
  3. Use correct spelling
  4. Use correct grammar
  5. Avoid superlatives such as "#1", "Cheapest", "Best", "Top"
  6. Limit promotional language such as "Free", "Limited Time Only",

Failure to follow these guidelines may result in your ad being rejected.

2.d) What are the rules for posting ads?

  1. You may not post content that is obscene, defamatory, threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful or otherwise objectionable.
  2. You may not post copyrighted content without permission from the owner.
  3. You must honestly and accurately describe the item for which you are posting an ad. Phuket.Net assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of any classified ads posted on the site.
  4. You may not post content that (1) impersonates any person or entity; (2) falsely states or otherwise misrepresents your affiliation with a person or entity; or (3) includes personal or identifying information about another person without that person's explicit consent.
  5. With a few exceptions, ads must be related to Phuket. The item, property or service you are advertising must either be located in Phuket or be of considerable interest to Phuket residents and visitors.
  6. Do not post multiple ads for the same item/service. Duplicate ads will be removed.
  7. Phuket.Net reserves the right to reject or delete ads at any time, for any reason and without notice.

2.e) How many ads can I post?

To prevent spamming we have limited the number of ads any user can post to 20. If you have reached this limit and wish to post more, please email admin. We will reset your limit for you.

2.f) How do I edit or delete my ads?

You must first be logged in to modify or delete your ad. Once logged in, go to the page containing your ad and click on "Modify Ad" or "Delete Ad".

You can also modify your ads by clicking on "Modify an Ad" in the left hand menu. From here you will be shown a list of your ads to select.

2.g) How many days will my ad be visible for?

All ads will expire after 90 days. (See below).

2.h) How can I extend my ad(s) past 90 days?

If you'd like to extend your ad before it expires, click on "Modify an ad" in the left hand menu to bring up a list of your ads. (You may be required to log in). Select your ad from this list.

If you do not wish to make any changes simply click "Modify Ad" at the bottom of the form. Your ad will now be valid for a further 90 days.

Note: If your ad has already expired you will need to create a new ad.

2.i) Is there a word/character limit for each ad?

Ad Title - limited to 80 characters including spaces. Please note, if you wish to include a " / " (foward slash or solidus) in your title, please use the following HTML code: /

Ad Description - limited to 2,000 characters including spaces.

Note: the ad title and ad description will be further shortened on category, search and "my account"/bookmark pages, due to formatting reasons.

2.j) How can I add photos to my ad?

You can include up to 2 photos with your ad. Click on the "Browse" button next to the "Photo" field and navigate to where your photo is located on your pc.

Each photo should be less than 300 kilobytes in size and should be as close to a squared shape as possible. (If your photo is too rectangular the preview may be distorted). Pixel dimensions should be under 600px * 600px to prevent your photo overflowing the screen.

2.k) Can I link to an external webpage?

You can enter a URL to a webpage that contains relevant information to your ad. You could also enter a URL to link to more photos of the item/service you are advertising.

All URLs will be screened my admin to check for appropriate content.

2.l) Why do I need to include a location?

We have made "Location" a required field for a number of reasons:

  1. Location information is of interest to our users. This is especially true for real estate but also relevant for other items/services. Distance to travel to obtain it may factor in the decision making process.
  2. We wish to keep this classified ads service "local". This means we will only accept ads that are relevant to Phuket. However, we will consider each ad on an individual basis.

Example locations are Patong, Kata, Phuket Town etc.top | close


3. Bugs and Abuse


3.a) Where do I report bugs?

If you experience any bugs or technical problems please email admin and state the nature of the problem and when you encountered it.

3.b) I've posted an ad, but I can't seem to find it?

All ads must first be approved by admin. We will endeavour to approve ads within 24 hours but please allow up to 48 hours.

You should receive an email once your ad has been approved or rejected. If after 48 hours you have still not received any notification, please email admin.

3.c) How come certain links do not do anything when I click on them?

Certain functions of our Classified Ads service require javascript to be enabled. However, these functions are only to provide convenience for our users and having javascript disabled should not limit your use of our service.

3.d) What can I do about offensive or suspicious ads?

If you come across any offensive or suspicious ads, please use the "Report Ad" function located on the main page of each ad. You will be required to fill in a short form in which you should state the nature of your complaint.

Complaints that are made must have a valid reason. If no reason is given we will attempt to contact the user who made the complaint and request a valid reason for their complaint. If we do not recieve a valid response, no further action will be taken.

3.e) Do you investigate complaints before removing ads?

Since this is a free service we regret that we do not have the resources to investigate complaints. Therefore, our normal procedure will be to remove any ads that we feel we have received a legitimate complaint about. We will endeavour to remove offending ads within 48 hours.
