Introduction to Phai Ling

Phai Ling is a district lying in the boundary of Ayutthaya City Municipality to the east of the city centre. The area is less touristy and there are only a handful of hotels here, making it suitable for visitors who enjoy a more authentic local experience. One of main tourist attractions here is Wat Gudidao, an ancient ruined temple dating back to the early Ayutthaya Period, which has examples of particularly fine craftsmanship. Another nearby temple that should not be missed is Wat Yai Chaimongkol located to the southeast of the city. This holy site is often visited by travellers and worshippers and it contains The Great Pagoda Chaimongkol, which is one of the best known landmarks of Ayutthaya. Recently opened is the Ayothaya Floating Market, which has been built to resemble a traditional Thai floating market and has plenty of shops and vendor boats selling food as well as handicrafts and souvenir items.
