Introduction to Bangrak
Bangrak is a district on the eastern shore of the Chao Phraya River, also known as Phranakhorn, which covers Silom Road, one of the city's main commercial and entertainment districts. There are a number of BTS Skytrain stations including Surasak, Chong Nonsi and Sala Daeng for ease of travel around Bangkok. For travelling along the river travelers can catch the Chao Phraya Express Boat at Saphan Taksin Pier, which provides quick access to major tourist attractions such as the Grand Palace. Many top class hotels can be found in this area, including the Shangri-La and Oriental, which are set along the river, while there are also many mid-range and budget options available as well. Though there are only a few shopping centers, namely Robinson Bangrak and Silom Complex, there are quite a few street markets such as at Soi Lalai Sap next to the headquarters of Bangkok Bank, and the night market in and around Patpong. These markets stock a wide variety of items including clothes, fashion accessories, leather goods and souvenirs.
