Introduction to Chinatown

One of Bangkok’s oldest commercial districts, Chinatown is located close to Hua Lamphong MRT station on Yaowarat Road, which runs alongside the Chao Phraya River. There are plenty of 3-4 star hotels in this area as well as some budget options. Guests enjoy strolling along the streets lined with shophouses to look around the ubiquitous food stalls, herbs shops, Chinese restaurants, and myriad gold shops. In the evening the food stalls set up all along the pavement turning this area into a heaven for lovers of Chinese food. Locals and visitors come from near and far to sample what many consider to be the best Chinese food in Thailand, all at street food prices! Just within walking distance is the large wholesale Sampeng Market where you can find all kinds of things at incredible prices. An important place of worship for local Chinese in the area is Wat Leng Nei Yi (Dragon Flower Temple) located a couple of minutes walk from Yaowarat on Chareonkrung Road.
