Introduction to Suvarnabhumi

Positioned at the eastern Bangkok on Bangna-Trad Highway in Nong Prua district of Samut Prakarn province, Suvarnabhumi is the location of Bangkok’s main airport: Suvarnabhumi International Airport. For transit passengers or those wishing to avoid the traffic of the city centre, a number of 3 star hotels of the area are a good option. To get into town you can take the Airport Rail Link (SARL) to Phayathai, Ramkhamhaeng and Makkasan stations which takes around 30 minutes, much faster than by taxi or bus. Aside from the airport there are not many places of interest nearby, however, in nearby Bangna you can find some large shopping malls such as a Seacon Square and Central Bangna. These suburban shopping centres have a wide range of shops and restaurants as well as cinemas and amusement parks. Also located in Bangna is the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) which has events all year round, and IKEA Bangna, a branch of the popular Swedish home furnishing chain.
