Introduction to Chaiyaphum

Chaiyaphum is situated in the centre of the Isaan or northeast region of Thailand. With the Phetchabun mountain running through the province, nearly 50% of Chaiyaphum is comprised of mountains and forest area, with the remainder being on the Khorat Plateau. The province is off the tourist trail yet there are some interesting sights and attractions for visitors to this peaceful and laid-back part of the kingdom. There are a few national parks including Tat Ton National Park. As one of Chaiyaphum’s most popular natural reserves, this park provides an ample amount of scenic views of the Laenkha mountains. If you are traveling during May to October, the beautiful Tat Ton waterfall that spans over 50m wide is well worth a visit. Another interesting natural attraction is Mor Hin Khao, known as Thailand's "Stonehenge", which is found in Phu Laen Kha National Park and contains unusual and curious rock formations which at first glance appear as if they might be man-made but are actually the result of thousands of years of weathering.
