Chanthaburi is an eastern province on the banks of the Chanthaburi River. The hinterlands in the north of the province are quite mountainous while its southern part is part of the Gulf of Thailand. The province is located around 330 km from Bangkok and is reachable by the buses that depart from Ekkamai Bus Terminal. Getting around the area is easy via pick-up truck taxis and blue songthaews. The majority of accommodation in the beach area is at the most popular Chaolao Beach that is situated about 30 km west of the town centre. Most resorts offer beachside bungalows and some also have attached spa facilities. Laem Sing Beach is a less crowded family destination from which tourists can rent a boat to the nearby Nom Sao and Chula islands. Just 3 km from this beach is the Oasis Sea World where visitors will be impressed by swimming with the dolphins and the exciting dolphin show. Kayaking at the seaward route of Kung Krabaen Mangrove Forest is another recommended activity.
