Introduction to Chang Phuak

The area of Chang Phuak is located to the northwest of the old city, at the foot of Doi Suthep mountain, and is partly in the Chiang Mai municipal district. Buddhist worshipers usually come to pay respect at the Kruba Srivichai Monument, the major landmark that was built to commemorate the most revered monk in the province. On the major highway is Wat Chet Yod, or the Temple of the Seven Spires, that has unique Lao, Chinese, Indian and Thai influenced architecture. Within short proximity of this monastery is the national museum where artifacts showcasing the history of the Lanna Kingdom are displayed. For viewing beautiful Thai Sakura blossoms, visitors can drive along the highway to Doi Pui at stop at Khun Chang Kian Village. The best time to visit this region is during the cool season from December to February, when the whole mountaintop is covered by cherry blossom and makes this route very picturesque. Choices of accommodation vary from guest houses, serviced apartments and tourist class hotels, all with standard facilities.
