Introduction to Mae On

Mae On is found on the fringes of Chiang Mai roughly 40 km east of the city and can be reached in about half an hour by car. It is bordered to the east by Lampang and Lamphun provinces. On the outskirts of Mae On is San Khampeng Hot Springs where visitors can relax by soaking in the hot mineral springs. There are private bath huts or open-air warm water pools. There are a number of boutique resorts to be found here, as well as rustic home-stays and eco-friendly accommodation at Ban Mae Kampong. This is the perfect destination for those seeking somewhere with untouched wilderness and few tourists. Visitors can indulge in the pleasant scenery of mountain hues, tea fields and a small stream running through the hillside village. To continue the route up the village, guests will arrive Mae Kampong Falls. Adventure lovers can hire a local guide for jungle trekking to Doi Mon Larn. The trek takes around 3-5 hours to reach the summit which has fantastic vistas and a camping ground.
