Introduction to City Centre

Situated in the center of the topmost province of Thailand, the city center of Chiang Rai is well-suited to visitors who are seeking a tranquil place for relaxation. There is a wide choice of hotels and resorts ranging from budget to deluxe classes available. If you wish to visit Chiang Rai City, you can take a flight from Bangkok directly to Chiang Rai, then continue by taxi to the city, which is only 10 minutes drive. Here there are a number of interesting places to explore such as the monument of King Mengrai who established Chiang Rai to be the capital of the Lanna Kingdom. Another site is the Cultural Castle which is a museum that exhibits ancients objects including ancient documents detailing the rich history of the region. Next to the Cultural Castle is the famous royal temple Wat Phra Singha. Other attractions are the waterfalls, parks, and hot springs that are found only a short distance from the city.
