Introduction to Khao Lak

Located along the west coast of Phang Nga province in Takua Pa distric, Khao Lak is a long peaceful stretch of golden sand. Although less developed than Phuket to the south, there is still a wide choice of hotels, resorts and guest houses to suit all budgets and requirements. Apart from its beautiful beaches, the main attraction of Khao Lak is its proximity to the Similan and Surin islands, rated as some of the best dive spots in the world. From November to April dive boats leave daily from Tap Lamu Pier just a few kilometers south of Khao Lak. Inland, Khao Lak also has much to offer in the form of stunning national parks. These include the Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park, which contains forested peaks and waterfalls, and Khao Sok National Park, which covers a huge area of Southern Thailand and contains some of the oldest rainforests in the world.
