Introduction to Saladan

Saladan or locally known as Laem Tueng, is the major village of Koh Lanta Yai and is located at the northernmost part of the island. There are more actions than at the other beaches on the island, so it goes without saying that all activities start at this gateway. The passenger ferry from Klong Ji Lard Pier close to Krabi Town is anchored at Saladan Pier on Koh Lanta. Tour operator boats for sightseeing, snorkeling and diving trips also depart from this center point. Island lovers can contact one of the available tour agencies who can help arrange speedboat trips to nearby beautiful islands such as Koh Rok, Koh Bu Bu, Koh Por and Koh Ngai. Also available are 4WD cars and motorbike rental that will help visitors to travel around the island more conveniently. A number of amenities like currency exchange counters, convenience stores and pharmacies can be found along the 2 main streets that make up the town. A road which runs parallel to the seafront comes with various seafood restaurants, some are on stilts over water and boasts of panoramic views of Lanta Noi Island. A few up market accommodation and several guesthouses are available for people who wish to stay in this lively precinct.
