Introduction to Sri Thanu Beach

Sri Thanu Beach is named after its small local village and it is easily accessible by a short Songthaew bus ride from Thong Sala Main Pier. At the western end of the bay is Ban Sri Thanu which is one of the market centers of the northwestern area of the island. In this small but reasonably developed village, there are many fine food stalls, seafood restaurants, Karaoke bars, various shops and internet cafes. Along this beach area, only a few family-run, with eco-friendly concept resorts can be found, thus the price range normally starts from low to medium and they are ideal for visitors with limited budget. At the middle of the beach is a local fishing port where long tail boats and squid fishing boats are anchored and people who wish to buy some fresh seafood will come here. This bay is also popular for beach fishing, swimming as well as snorkeling. However, these activities are not recommended during monsoon season as the sea will become very rough. The nearby Hin Kong and Wok Tum bays which are beautiful sunset points can be easily reached by following a small beach road from Sri Thanu Beach.
