Introduction to Koh Phi Phi

Lying southeast of Phuket in Krabi Province surrounded by turquoise waters and fringed with gorgeous sparkling white beaches, the Koh Phi Phi islands are the quintessential tropical island paradise. Underwater the islands are just as spectacular as above, with some excellent dive spots teaming with fish and other marine life. Popular activities here include scuba diving, snorkelling, sea kayaking and game fishing. Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Ley are the largest of the six islands which comprise the island group. All the accommodation is located on Phi Phi Don, the largest of the islands, mostly around the ferry pier at Ton Sai Bay. Here you can find everything from backpacker guest houses to luxury hotels, as well as plenty of restaurants, bars and shops. Phi Phi can be reached by ferry from Phuket in about 1.5 hours or 45 minutes by speedboat. Although most places stay open year-round, the best time to visit Koh Phi Phi is between November and April during the dry season when the seas is calm.
