Introduction to Lamai Beach

Lamai Beach is considered as the 2nd most popular beach destination of Koh Samui. It is situated at the southeastern shoreline of the island, between Hua Thanon Beach and the most famous Chaweng Beach. It is around 20 minutes drive from Koh Samui Airport and about 30 minutes from the main ferry pier. The well known, amazing highlight of Lamai Beach is Hin Ta Hin Yai or generally known as Grandmother and Grandfather Rocks. Although this beach is not as lively as Chaweng Beach, there are a large selection of seafood restaurants, various style bars and convenience stores. The good thing about this beach is its quieter atmosphere which is suitable for people who wish to relax on the beach. There are a myriad of resorts, bungalows and hotels ranging from very cheap up to the up market ones. People who comes with limited budget may choose to stay in a small bungalow that is run by locals. Some of the attractions which are accessible by a short car journey include Butterfly Garden, Samui Tropical Zoo and Lamai Temple Folklore Museum.
