Introduction to That Phanom

Placed along the bank of Mae Kong River, That Phanom is the southern most district of Nakhon Phanom province. It is approximately an hour drive from both Nakhon Phanom City Centre and the airport. Some travelers from Mukdahan can get to this area by around 40 minute car journey. Not many but several hotels available in That Phanom town and seemingly all of them are inexpensive and suitable for those who are on budget. Visiting a variety of points of interest around this area is not difficult as their taxi is not expensive. Phra That Phanom is a very popular sacred place for Buddhist people to come while Sai Thong River Beach is ideal for local people who seek for a riverside relaxation spot. This beach will appear for visitors to enjoy during March to May when the river water is low. One of the top tourist points of this district is a river island which is formed by pebbles and is becoming and ideal site for soaking in fresh water. Chill out at some floating restaurants while looking at beautiful surrounding of Mae Kong River is something enjoyable.
