Introduction to Koh Kho Khao

Koh Kho Khao lies just off the coast from Ban Nam Khem Village and it is a sub-district of Takuapa District of Phang Nga Province. It is 90 km north of Phuket International Airport and from the coastal village, it will take travellers around 10 minutes ferry boat ride to cross a strait to this secluded island. Most travelers to here are its regular visitors and all of them seek for somewhere not too remote, but quiet and calm and good enough for real escape. The island consists of golden sandy beaches, grassland at the inner part, rare fauna and flora and some historic places. The flat area at the northern tip used to be an airfield for the Japanese Army during World War II, and there is the ruin of the old city to explore. Many actions can take place here; enjoy seafood dishes while sitting bare foot at the thatched roof restaurant at Virgin Beach. Enjoy sunset by walking along Sunset Beach, bird watching at Toan Thong Waterfall and also elephant riding. Staying in a tent under pine trees is more ideal for people who love to be closer to the nature, however there are also some boutique beach resorts with good facilities to choose from.
