Introduction to Phitsanulok

The province of Phitsanulok is located northern region of Thailand and contains great natural attractions and historic sites to enjoy. The provincial capital is a lovely vibrant town that is a good base for visitors to hang out and organise excursions around the area. Visitors to this province should endeavor to visit the rugged national parks and the Chinnarat Buddha, one of Thailand’s most revered Buddha images. One of the greatest attractions for visitors to Phitsanulok province is the Phra Si Ratana Temple, also known as Wat Yai. This temple was built back in 1357 and was later modified into a monastery. Today, it contains some very famous Buddhist statues. Another great place to visit is the Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park. This is a great national park with nature just like it has always been and very little interference by man. This national park is located about 21.1 miles from the city center. The Sergeant Major Thawee Museum is an interesting site to visit. It comprises three buildings with plenty of fascinating artifacts and memorabilia collected and compiled by the Sergeant over the years.
