Introduction to Klaeng

The peaceful Klaeng District is set at the southeastern part of the province, and is around a 40 minute drive from the city center of Rayong. Klaeng is also a place of birth of Phra Soonthorn Voharn, known as Soonthorn Phu, one of Thailand’s best poets from Rattanakosin era, and his monument is located in this district which you can take a short drive to visit. Plentiful hotels and resorts, including the famous hotels chains like Marriott and Novotel, are available for those who prefer something with more facilities. Klaeng has many interesting tourist places and one of them is the charming 100 years old, 2 storey wooden buildings of Old Market Klaeng. This market is situated in town centre and you can enjoy strolling and buying some souvenirs from here. The river of Pra Sae flows through Klaeng District and for river sightseeing, you can hire a longtail boat to enjoy riverside rich mangrove, but the highlight here is firefly watching at nighttime. Apart from that activities, getting offshore to a group of Mun Islands is also a must see of this region.
