Introduction to Sisaket
Sisaket is a province in northeastern Thailand located in the valley of the Mun River and borders Cambodia to the east. Within Sisaket province is the Khao Phra Wihan National Park. The national park is famous for its many Khmer ruins which can be found throughout the province. These show a vast importance of this area to the Khmer empire around the 12th century. Some of these ruins include the Tamnaksai Khmer ruins, which is a stupa in rectangular shape. As well, the bas relief is another Khmer ruin carved into sandstone cliffs and features the Hindu gods of the Khmer. Another famous temple in Sisaket, known as the Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew, is truly a remarkable construction. Made from millions of colorful glass bottles that were donated by local people, its architecture is truly unique and beautiful, unlike any other temple of its kind in the world.
