Introduction to City Centre

Udon Thani Province is in the northeast or Isan of Thailand, and perhaps best known for its Ban Chiang pottery. It is some 560 km from Bangkok and is accessed by bus that will take around 8-9 hours from Bangkok’s Northeastern Bus Terminal. Traveling by air will take only an hour to Udon Thani International Airport, 5 km from the city centre. The budget guesthouses and mid-range hotels are mainly set in the business areas such as Prajak Road and Posri Road. Both CBDs are close to the hubs of transportation, including the railway station and 2 bus terminals. At the west of the town is Nong Prajak Park that has the large lake and nicely decorated gardens. Udon Sunshine Fragrant Orchid Farm, only 2 km from the city centre is the ideal agricultural tourist spot. The famous souvenirs here are the perfumes with the unique scents from orchid, grass and insect. 50 km east is Ban Chiang National Museum, the most important archaeological site in Southeast Asia.
