Mai Khao is located on the northwest corner of Phuket. The beach at Mai Khao is a beautiful 11 kilometre stretch of sand that is mostly deserted. Although the airport is located at its southern end, the lack of development in this area is because much of Mai Khao is located within the Sirinath National Park.
