Phunaka Golf Course

Phuket’s newest golf course and the only one located in the south of the island, this floodlit 9-hole golf course is a true links course with all the challenges this brings. Many golfers in Asia are not used to this style of course and can easily be caught out. Its designer John Morrow, who also designed the stunning red Mountain Golf Course, has placed hazards in the most awkward of places, often making players having to choose between clubs and alter their game accordingly.

Whilst short in length the course is very challenging as all of the fairways are extremely narrow with water hazards on 8 of the 9 holes and deep rough / jungle on the edges.

Two of the holes have large water hazards that you need to clear if you want to make a chance at a birdie or even par and if playing off the Blues need to clear 220 yards minimum on to be on safe ground when playing the 4th.

It is probable that you will need every club in your bag to complete this course, something that rarely happens on other courses.

Bring plenty of spare balls as you will find yourself caught out on this course regularly.
