Andaman Sea Rally
13 - 27 January 2007
Inaugurated in 2003 the Andaman Sea Rally is a “race” across the Andaman Sea in three stages including a race around the islands. Depending on the individual boats, it takes a few days to cross over to the Andaman Islands – a group of 572 islands belonging to India, which also include the Nicobar Islands. The rally starts in Phuket and ends in Port Blair, and is opened to both sail and power boats.
There are always a few days set aside to explore the Islands which used to be an old British Colony with colonial-style buildings and old churches or to do some snorkelling and diving in the beautiful area.
In January 2005 the Andaman Sea Rally was cancelled because of the tsunami on boxing day and the 2006 rally also couldn't not take place but the organizing committee is optimistic that in 2007 there will be another Andaman Sea Rally again.
