Inaugurated in 2002 the annual Koh Samui International Regatta already has a reputation as one of the most challenging regattas on the Asian sailing circuit. The regatta is organised under the auspices of the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand and is recognised by the International Sailing Federation.
Sailors come from everywhere in SE-Asia but primarily from Hong Kong, Singapore, Sarawak, Australia, as well as Phuket, Chumpon, Pattaya and of course Koh Samui.
In a rather laid back atmosphere, the 6-day sailing event starts on Monday after the opening party the evening before. The lay day, usually on the fourth day, includes a golf day at the country club and can be used to relax or lazing around and enjoying the beautiful scenery of Koh Samui and its tropical palm tree lines and white sandy beach before the final last two days of racing.
