PIMEX - Phuket International Marine Expo
7th - 10th January 2010
Held at the Royal Phuket Marina, PIMEX 2010 is expecting 80 exhibiting companies and 45 yachts in the water. All the region's major brokers and dealers are signed up - all key brands will be represented at the region's premier boat show.
Background
With the fast gaining momentum in the marina industry, the inauguration of Phuket's own boat show in December 2003 was opportune.
Organized by Image Asia Events, the PIMEX 2005 was in its third year and already the international yachting and lifestyle show has developed into one of the biggest and leading exhibition in SE-Asia.
The 2,000 square metres of space with 86 exhibition booths in the air-conditioned main hall and the 3,500 square metres of outside display area with 30 in-water berths for the boats where filled to the last place.
With the Thai governments removal of import taxes on new boats brought into the Kingdom, it is much easier to import European boats like a new, 'Lady Hawke', an Italian designed sailing boat and brand names like Horizon 53 by Kingfisher Marine as well as some Jeanneau boats into the country. It shows that there is a lot of interest outside of SE-Asia to get established in the regions marine scene.
With 5,000 visitors in 2005, the figures of the previous years were already surpassed and the organizers do not expect them to go down in the future.
