Napha Ngiulai welcomes guests to her private spa set up in a charming home at the back of Chok Thip Villa located a few kilometres from Chalong Circle.
'I decided to open a healing spa in a quiet home surrounded by the sounds of Nature and the feeling of being nourished in a special quiet place,' she says.
Khun Napha comes from the far northeastern areas of Thailand where Thai massage is a normal part of everyday life. She learned many of her special techniques and recipes from her grandmother who taught her how to collect local fruits, tree bark and medicinal soil to create creams that would soften, lighten and heal the skin. At Raya Spa, she uses these same formulas, as she believes that local natural products are best for the body.
Upon arrival at The Raya Spa, you are invited into the front room of this boutique salon and given an extensive menu of individual treatments and luxurious packages. Indulge yourself in a package and enjoy the three to five hours of comfort and healing pleasure from the head to the feet.
An example is the Raya Spa Rejuvenating package which begins with a natural Thai herbal scrub that removes loose, dry and dead cells and allows the skin to breathe more fully. The herbal scrubs are based on local herbs and plants including tamarind, sesame and even pure honey. After rinsing off from the herbal scrub, the skilled therapists apply a creamy banana body wrap which nourishes the newly refreshed cells. Massage rooms are peaceful with air-conditioned comfort and sounds of heavenly music while the skin is refreshed.
'While many body wraps use fresh papaya and natural sea salts, the Raya Spa Rejuvenating package uses banana as it is gentler on the skin and leaves a soft and silky glow to the body,' she continues. After the body wrap is cleansed away, the massage therapist offers a choice of aromatic oils for a one hour massage. This is often given by two young women working together in harmony, one starting on the back and the other on the legs. Finally, a facial treatment using fresh organic honey as well as other cleansers and moisturizers complete this four hour treatment package.
The Raya Spa has an outdoor massage pavilion set next to a pool and outdoor showers that give you that back-to-nature feeling. The menu also includes a Slimming Package that is designed to relax muscles, cleanse the skin and reduce cellulite. There is a full body scrub using organic local coffee, an anti-cellulite massage with a special slimming cream to reduce cellulite and a detoxifying body wrap that also aids in reducing cellulite and, water retention.
