Spa Varee is set back from Patong's busy Beach Road at the Patong Beach Hotel. The therapy menu differs greatly from the massage available at the beach or around the pool, which are more designed to simply relax. Massage therapists at Spa Varee have been trained in the use of Thai herbs, fruits and spices which, when combined, have a therapeutic effect on improving your health and general well being.
Khun Sirikwan Tawitchsri, one of Spa Varee's friendly reception managers explained, 'We offer soothing aromatherapy massage where a base of almond oil is joined with drops of condensed oils from local herbs, fruits and spices. We know from our ancient experience, that certain herbs have healing effects on the body as massage has been part of our culture for over 2000 years.'
Spa Varee has developed therapies to suit every visitor's need. From stress reduction to promoting energy, the aromatherapy oils are carefully blended for each guest. For example, for those suffering from depression or anxiety, a combination of bergamot, grapefruit, lemon, orange and peitgrain are combined and added to the base almond oil. For those who need enhanced energy, a combination of cedarwood, lavender, orange, pine and rosemary is prescribed.
But aromatherapy oils are only part of the pleasures at Spa Varee. The entire spa has been designed as a tribute to Thai culture with the use of natural colors, plants and a wall of cascading water. The spa is separated for men and women with hot and cold jacuzzi pools in each part for before and after spa treatment relaxation. There's a large steam room and wooden sauna to assist with relaxation, while allowing the skin's pores to eliminate toxins.
Spa Varee offers four special packages, such as facial massage, aromatherapy foot bath, Thai herbal body scrub and Thai traditional massage; these packages last between two to three hours. Or you can choose a different single treatment each day. Then there's the Honeymoon Package for couples who want to enjoy a relaxing therapy session together. Included in this are the sauna, steam room and a spa floral bath, a body scrub with white clay, camphor, Japanese salts and turmeric, and a choice of aromatherapy oils for a one hour massage, rounded off with an anti-stress facial massage.
