Phuket Hospitals

Even though private health care in Thailand is relatively cheap compared to Europe or North America, you really should take out travel insurance that will cover treatments and hospital stays in Thailand.

Phuket has two international standard hospitals, Phuket International Hospital and Bangkok Phuket Hospital, which are both located on the edge of Phuket City. Both hospitals offer an impressive range of facilities and services, and are staffed to deal with foreign patients. In fact, medical tourism is drawing an increasing number of visitors to Phuket each year due to the high quality of healthcare, low waiting times and costs.

Other hospitals in Phuket City include Mission Hospital, a small private hospital which provides a cheaper alternative to the two large hospitals and Vachira Hospital, the main government hospital on the island.

In Patong there is the Patong-Kathu Hospital, a government hospital which deals with a fair amount of tourists due to its location. However, for anything serious you are probably better off going to the larger hospitals in Phuket City.

All major hotels have doctors on call. There are also a large number of small medical clinics dotted around the island.
